Our Food System is facing some critical challenges including, climate change, the co-existence of malnutrition and obesity, feeding a growing population, loss of biodiversity and competition for land and water.

The emergence of Alternative Food Networks such as Farmers Markets, Community Supported Agriculture and seed- libraries are providing opportunities for communities to create a food system that works with and for our ecosystems.

Local government supported and/or run seed-libraries and community gardens play an important role in creating resilient, healthy and food secure communities.

This talk is suitable for the general public at the launch of local government initiatives such as seed-library’s and community gardens.
