Through a fictional story that captures people’s imaginations, an author can stimulate debate of critical issues of our time, such as climate change and food and water security.

Topics:

• How fiction reaches those not necessarily interested in a social, environmental or political issue in a non-confrontational way

• The dos and don’ts of fiction with a message

• The fiction author as non-threatening interviewer

• Practical exercise where each attendee plans a short story with a message that he or she feels passionate about
