This session follows on from a 30 minute version of the Creation of a Picture Book Demonstration session, which introduces the concept of printmaking and the effects achieved.
Under Narelle’s guidance, students use reference photos and/or objects to prepare a pencil drawing at required size. Close-up studies of animals, plants, insects, historical objects and other subjects related to curriculum areas are ideal. Choice of subject regarding its pattern, line, texture is discussed and demonstrated.
Students transfer drawing onto a special dense foam.
Students indent the foam using a biro (rather than cutting tools) to create the outlines, textures and patterns. Students print from their foam block onto paper.
