Leanne takes students on the journey of her writing career – from her early primary school stories (replete with inadequate illustration), through high school and to getting her first book, This Is Shyness, published. Along the way she talks about the ideas and themes that have captured her attention since childhood; her lack of direction after high school; setbacks and rejections; and her eventual decision to chase down that dream of having a novel published. Leanne also talks about where she gets her ideas, and how she uses research, visual references and `acting out’ in her creative process.
