In this session Katherine talks about how to develop interesting characters that will come alive on the page.
Using examples from different stories (including her critically acclaimed picture book, Squish Rabbit) Katherine will demonstrate how she develops characters. Learn all about where she gets ideas, how to observe real life to inform your drawing and how to convey personality, body language and emotion through line-work.
Kids will also enjoy a special bunny book reading and a number of guided illustration activities.
Praise for Squish Rabbit: ‘Battersby’s expert, ample distribution of white space provides room on each page for readers to luxuriate in her impressive, evocative ink, watercolor and collage illustrations – and to absorb a small rabbit’s feelings.’ Kirkus Review
