Big Visions — Small Steps

Session Info:

From childhood dreams of exploring hills and the views beyond to tackling new and difficult routes on Himalayan giants, Tim takes you on journey through his formative trips into the mountain world culminating in the first Australian ascent of Everest via a difficult new route on the north face which he and his team accomplished in a lightweight style with no supplementary oxygen. As you travel with him he shares some of the critical lessons learned.

Topics:

  • Preparation first and foremost is a mental discipline and can make all the difference between failure and success.
  • Motivation is best derived from inspiration.
  • Difficult tasks require the sharpest focus driven by inspiration and maintained by good discipline.
  • Teamwork must have trust and communication.
  • Trust well placed can reap great benefits but misplaced can lead to disaster.
  • Communication in a team is more efficient if you are all facing the same direction and share the same vision.
  • Even the biggest mountain can be climbed if it is broken down into small, immediately manageable steps.
