Tim Bain

Curriculum Specialist, Illustrator

Tim Bain is an award-winning filmmaker, animator, TV writer and children’s playwright. An audio-visual jack-of-all-trades, he writes, directs, produces and edits television commercials, promotional films, documentaries and animation, and writes television comedy.

Where were you born?

I grew up in the tiny rural community of Freshwater Creek, ‘Tidy Town’ runner-up 1983.

What other jobs have you had?

I started out as a singing telegram gorilla, warbling off-key tunes at birthday parties, Christmas celebrations, and raucous hens nights. I had my big break into the movies when I was hired to scoop popcorn and sell choc tops at my local cinema complex.

What have been the highlights of your career

When I was studying animation at the Victorian College of the Arts, I was lucky enough to have Eric Bana and Sigrid Thornton kindly lend their voices to a couple of my cartoon penguins.

Where have your works been published?

I’ve written comedy for TV shows such as The Wedge and Rove. I’ve had four high school musicals published and performed in schools across the world. My latest, High School Spoofical, takes the mickey out of all those nauseating Disney teen movies.
