Story Peddlers is a roving pop-up performance space that comes to you.
Story Peddlers is the brain child of sculptor and Coffee Peddler, Patrick Verdon and children’s author, Sally Rippin. It was launched in 2014.
In our colourful red, yellow and blue handmade tent, we are hard to miss! Story Peddlers has appeared at the Melbourne Writers Festival, Clunes Booktown Festival, Woolly West Festival, Glen Eira and Whittlesea community festivals and the Scotch College Literary Festival, and we have travelled to country Victoria and all around Melbourne.
At the Melbourne Writers Festival, we have held 5 minute Story Slams, where we choose five well-known people to tell stories and five strangers then sign up to tell their stories. The result is both hilarious and heart-warming.
Giving a platform to marginalized voices. In January 2017, in collaboration with the Fitzroy Library, we will hold our first storytelling event to do just this.
Story Peddlers is a bespoke service, not a marquee-for-hire. We are happy to program a one off storyteller or entire festival to suit your needs. All sound, lighting and MC work is taken care of and we have all the required insurance and paperwork for public events.
