Manal Younus is a writer, poet, performer, and creative producer. As a young, black Muslim woman of Eritrean origins living in Australia, Manal uses her art forms to create and explore her own identity and spark thought in the minds of the audiences and communities she engages with.

What other jobs have you had?

I have been a writer and research assistant for Our World Today, assistant director of a national NGO, and a producer and actor at Act Now Theatre

Time, Pressure, Identity, Growth, Self-respect, Love, Family, Social Politics

What have been the highlights of your career?

Performing in Malaysia at the Georgetown Literary Festival, publishing and launching ‘Reap’ – my first collection of poems.

What are you passionate about?

I am most passionate about empowerment and equity.

Haven’t I seen you before?

Maybe! I’ve been a guest on ABC’s Q&A, presented a Ted Talk and I was a finalist for Young South Australian of the Year.
