Jen Storer


Jen Storer grew up in a small country town in the Wimmera. She began her working life as a nurse. In the 1990s she returned to study, graduating from Monash University with first class honours in Literature. She has written many books for children including the best-selling Truly Tan series and the acclaimed gothic fantasy, Tensy Farlow and the Home for Mislaid ChildrenQuincy Jordan, book one of the Crystal Bay Girls, is out now. Romy Bright will follow in August 2014. Jen lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Horsham, Victoria

What other jobs have you had?

I have been a nurse, a veterinary nurse, a nanny, a public servant, a children’s book editor and a project manager in children’s publishing.

What themes are recurring in your work?

Courage in the face of adversity, family dynamics, sibling rivalry, loneliness. I am particularly interested in writing about strong, independent girls. I enjoy blending humour and horror.

What have been the highlights of your career?

Receiving letters and emails from children who have enjoyed my books. Meeting my readers.

Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, China, France.

What are you passionate about?

Creative writing, the art of story-telling, film, women’s rights.
