Jeannette Rowe is one of Australia’s best selling preschool authors/illustrators. She has published over serventy picture books over the past twelve years and has sold nearly two million books around the world.

Where were you born?

I was born and grew up in Melbourne. I found school difficult in the beginning. It was very confusing and a bit boring. We didn’t have an art teacher and I was always in trouble for drawing on my school books.

What other jobs have you had?

I became an art teacher when I left school because I loved drawing and I quite liked kids. Later I left to become a talent agent in the film and advertising industry and then later again I began illustrating & writing children’s books.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about creating books for babies and preschoolers. I believe the early experiences children have of reading and books play an enormous part in them developing a love of reading. Reading is a powerful gift that can change and shape your life.
