Cool Australia founder Jason Kimberly is an eco-warrior, globally renowned photographer, adventurer and founder of the online environmental resources, Cool Australia and Our Cool School.
I have worked in warehouses, shops, pubs, clubs, on cattle stations, I have picked fruit, built homes, demolished houses, and even lasted one week as a door to door salesman flogging roof repairs. I have been a businessman and photographer with exhibitions in Australia, Asia, and the USA.
The inspiration for me is our natural environment and how humans interact with this natural world. I am constantly struck by how poorly we treat our life support system – our natural environment. We have much to learn.
In 2004 my photographic exhibition in New York was a sell out. In 2008 I was named as one of Melbourne’s top 100 most influential people. In 2008 I was named at the top of Melbourne’s worst dressed list. If I recall correctly I was described as, ‘David Attenborough on acid.’ In 2009 my organisation Cool Melbourne was one of three finalists in the Melbourne Awards in the environmental division.
In addition to my own publications my written and photographic works have been published in The Good Weekend, The Financial Review, The Age, The Herald Sun, The Sunday Age, Australian Football Quarterly, The Winning Post, Qantas Magazine, Lino Magazine, Madison, Marie Claire, Great Walks Magazine, The Weekend Australian, Royal Auto, Rolling Stone Magazine, Gourmet Traveller and MX.
