History, public education, feminism, anyone who is doing it tough, politics, atheism and a whole range of social issues.

What themes are recurring in your work?

I am interested in emotional context and reality. In my fiction I like to imagine what it feels like to have experienced extraordinary things. I am interested in an emotional connection between my readers and my characters.

What have been the highlights of your career?

I have won many international and national advertising awards. I appear regularly on The Gruen Transfer, Q&A, and have been in two IQ2 Oz debates. Publishing my first book, and later my first novel, as well as having all three of my books selected as the Sydney Morning Herald’s Pick of The Week.

Haven’t I seen you before?

Probably. I appear on telly virtually weekly and somewhere in the media at least as often, but I am not famous – just familiar, people know they know me they just don’t quite know where from.
