Dr Michael Nagel

Dr Michael Nagel is an Associate Professor and the Head of Education Programs in the School of Science in Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Dr Nagel teaches and researches in the areas of cognition, behaviour and learning and human development and early learning.

Where were you born?

I was born, raised and initially educated in the prairies of Canada where I learned what a ‘big’ sky really meant.

What other jobs have you had?

I have spent the majority of my professional life in education as a teacher, behaviour specialist and academic. Along the way I have also worked as a waiter, bartender, construction labourer, interpreter/translator, and coach.

What themes are recurring in your work?

The majority of work I do focuses on developmental aspects of childhood and enhancing all aspects of ‘schooling’ for children and teachers and child rearing for parents.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?

I have presented over two hundred workshops and seminars for parents and teachers nationally and internationally and am a member of the prestigious International Neuropsychological Society.
