Where were you born?

Melbourne is where I was born and bred.

What other jobs have you had?

I have taught, trained others, worked in radio, appeared in a few television serials, trod the boards on stage and have earned a crust from the occasional article.

What themes are recurring in your work?

Words and language play have been integral to much of my work be it in encouraging students to experiment with language or writing something taking a different perspective. I also encourage active engagement from students where ever possible.

Where have your works been published?

My articles have appeared in Melbourne’s The Age. My novels have had a national release but my educational resources have found an audience in the UK and USA.

What are you passionate about?

Good education. Good teachers. Good books.

Haven’t I seen you before?

I have trod the boards on the amateur stage and have appeared on the odd television serial so people sometimes try and recall where they’ve seen my ugly mug before.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?

There’s always another show coming up so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that.

Testimonials

Just wanted to say that David Maclean gave a very valuable and worthwhile presentation to our Literature class at Ilim College – especially considering that we were on Zoom.
