Chris Morphew spent his childhood writing stories about dinosaurs and spaceships. More recently, he’s written fifteen books for kids and young adults.

What other jobs have you had?

Before I started writing full-time, I worked for a while as a primary school teacher, (definitely the second-best job in the world!) I still do the odd bit of casual teaching whenever I can fit it in between books.

What themes are recurring in your work?

The world can be a dark place sometimes, but I don’t believe that that darkness is all there is. The search for hope and meaning in the middle of desperate circumstances is a part of almost everything I write. That and super-powered mutants.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about the power of fiction to encourage people to see the world in new ways.
