Carol Jones has been a teacher, children’s magazine editor and publisher. She has written more than 40 books for children, including educational fiction and non-fiction, eight novels and trade non-fiction.

What other jobs have you had?

After working as a secondary teacher for nine years, I spent the next ten years editing and publishing a group of children’s magazines before turning to full-time writing.

What themes are recurring in your work?

I find myself coming back to the themes of girls and young women finding their way in the world, whether it be romance, adventure or historical characters.

Where have your works been published?

My books have been published in Australia and overseas. Most recently, It’s True: Women Were Warriors has been translated into Chinese. I continue to contribute to children’s magazines locally and in the United States.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about my family and about allowing young people to find their voices.
