Anna Goldsworthy is a prize-winning classical pianist and writer. She an engaging speaker and performer, and is passionate about bringing the lessons of classical music to the widest possible audience.

Where were you born?

Adelaide.

What have been the highlights of your career?

Solo piano appearances at the Teatro Colon for the Buenos Aires International Music Festival, for the Orchestra of Colours in Athens, at the Melbourne International Arts Festival, and in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s Masters Series. Establishing the national series of my piano trio, Seraphim. The premiere of the play, Maestro, that I co-wrote with my father, Peter Goldsworthy, at the State Theatre of South Australia in March 2009. The release of my musical memoir, Piano Lessons, by Black Inc. Publishing to critical acclaim, and its release by St Martin’s Press in New York in October 2010. My appointment as Artistic Director of the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival, beginning in 2010.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about bringing the lessons of classical music to the widest possible audience, incorporating the spoken word into most of my performances as a classical pianist.

Haven’t I seen you before?

Alongside my performances around Australia as piano soloist and with Seraphim Trio, I am the presenter of Musica Viva’s Coffee Concerts, appear regularly on the radio, and have much experience addressing students through my work as piano teacher, lecturer at the University of Melbourne, and Artist-in-residence at Janet Clarke Hall.
