The area of drug education is one that many teachers do not feel well-equipped to cover in their classroom. Many teachers access information on drugs from unreliable sources such as commercial television and the internet and as a result there is a great deal of mythology around drugs and their use. This seminar aims to empower teachers with information about current trends in alcohol and other drugs and assist them in the classroom.

This presentation will focus on building knowledge about alcohol and drug use and debunking common myths.

Topics include:

• At what age are young people starting to experiment with drugs?

• Are there gender differences when it comes to alcohol and other drug use?
